Captain Jonathan Garrido

CPT Garrido is a first generation American born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. He attended Paramus Catholic High School, a Catholic school, and then matriculated to Rutgers University. At Rutgers University, he studied Information Technology and Informatics and History while also serving in the New Jersey National Guard as an enlisted Infantryman. After completing the Cadet Leadership Course at Fort Knox, KY in the Summer of 2016 and meeting graduation requirements, he commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the Spring of 2017. He then reported to Ft. Benning where he completed Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course, Ranger School, Airborne School,  and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment “Strike Force” as a part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). While at the 101st he served as the Rifle Platoon Leader of 2nd Platoon, Charlie Company “Chargers”, leading them through multiple training cycles. LT Garrido also served as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader as part of the 1st Battalion 26th Infantry Regiment and ultimately finished his time as the Battalion Signal Officer where he led them through a rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft. Polk Louisiana. He was then selected and assigned to UCLA as a member of the first Cavazos Program cohort to help increase diversity in the officer ranks of the Combat Arms branches.
