Captain Louis Kete

CPT Kete was born and raised in Morristown, New Jersey. He attended the Delbarton School, a Catholic preparatory school, and then matriculated to Boston College on a 4 Year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps National Scholarship. At Boston College, he studied Political Science and Arabic while also competing as a member of the Men’s Varsity Rowing Team. After completing Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, KY in the Summer of 2016 and meeting graduation requirements, he commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the Spring of 2017. He then reported to Ft. Benning where he completed Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course, and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment “First Strike” as a part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). While at the 101st he served as the Rifle Platoon Leader of 1st Platoon, Bravo Company “the Hogs”, leading them through multiple training cycles and a rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft. Polk Louisiana. Additionally, he deployed in support of the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine acting as a Liaison Officer to multinational partner forces, helping coordinate the U.S. effort of training, equipping, and providing doctrinal assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was then selected and assigned to UCLA as a member of the first Cavazos Program cohort to help increase diversity in the officer ranks of the Combat Arms branches.
